Copic Challenge-D!

Hi! I am back with a card inspired by my friend Barb. You see Barb is a copic "artist" in my opinion. She gets those markers in her hands and she creates the most beautiful images. (You can see Barb's cards on her blog Stampelicious. ) With my envy I decided to put my collection of copic markers to use. I have collected the beautiful copic colors for sometime. Until now they have mostly sat as I admired them. I have used my copic markers on one other card here. That image did not require the shadowing that makes Magnolia images come alive. I have to admit I am not completely satisfied with the results of todays card. So this post is a lesson in what NOT to do with your copic markers. Lesson one...copic markers do not work like my Prismacolor pencils. I over blended my copics. I went to Barb's blog this morning for inspiration. I instantly saw my mistakes. I did not leave enough light areas. My color choices were too close together in value. Without range of color images appear flat. So I go back to square one. If you would like to see a couple of my other favorite copic artists you can go to Claudia Rosa's blog Magnolia Inspiration, Suzanne Dean's blog Scrap Blitz (Suzanne has copic tutorial video's you can view) and Marianne Walker's copic website "I Like Markers". ( Tell them I sent you!) These are just a few of my favorite bloggers that use copic markers. I have seen such beautiful cards made using copics. I will keep practicing and studying my friends' gorgeous work until I get it right. I don't give up easy!
After all with any medium you use you have to practice, practice, practice! So if you are like me, and feel copic challenged, don't give up. We just have to hang in there and practice. At least that's what I am telling myself! LOL!
Until next time, I hope you all have a happy, SAFE Fourth of July.

I think you are being too hard on yourself. I think you did a great job. It takes awhile to figure those pens out but they sure are wonderful. I have had mine for a few months and am still learning. I really like your Tilda, keep practicing!

I think you did an excellent job. Copics do have a learning curve. You could add a very pale gray outline around her to add a bit more dimension.Yes you are right especially for hair, you need light and dark colours to bring it alive.
Love the bright colours and the layout is good!

I like your Tilda! She looks like she has a little tan. Not too much because I am sure you make sure she has her sunscreen on beofre going outside. Tee hee!
